A Shared Approach to Behavior Management
Wednesday August 5, 2026 9:00am - 10:00am PDT
Strong behavior management creates safe, consistent, and positive environments for all members. In this session, we will ground staff in BGCP’s Behavior Management Plan and highlight how its key components will show up across trainings throughout the week. We will focus on introducing our core philosophies and creating space for staff to reflect on where they feel most aligned and where they may have room to grow. Participants will leave with a shared foundation and a clearer mindset to carry into deeper skill-building sessions.

Program Quality Overview
Wednesday August 5, 2026 10:15am - 11:45am PDT
Strong systems and tools enable staff to deliver high-quality programming and drive continuous improvement. In this session, high school programming staff will deeply engage with updates to coaching and observation practices, including the program quality scorecard and revised skills trajectory. The focus will be on internalizing and integrating these new tools, moving beyond awareness to using them consistently and intentionally to make sense of feedback and guide growth. Staff will leave with greater confidence, a clear understanding of how these tools connect, and actionable next steps for applying them to strengthen their practice.

Aiming for 100%: Classroom Management
Wednesday August 5, 2026 1:15pm - 2:45pm PDT
100% engagement ensures every student is actively focused and learning. In this practice-based session, participants will build and rehearse core classroom management moves, including clear “what to do” directions, strong radar to track participation, and least invasive interventions to redirect behavior. The session will tackle real classroom challenges, such as responding in the moment when students disengage while maintaining flow and consistency. Participants will leave with practical tools, stronger real-time decision-making, and the language needed to drive full engagement.

Pitching with Purpose: Helping Youth and Families Choose Your Program
Wednesday August 5, 2026 3:00pm - 4:30pm PDT
Clear, specific pitches help youth and families understand what a program offers, see why it matters to them, and decide to sign up. In this hands-on practice session, staff will prepare and deliver pitches for the programs they're recruiting for this school year. The focus will be on the real moment where pitching gets harder: getting specific instead of falling back on a general description, naming the impact a particular youth or family would actually care about, and keeping it short and clear when you have only a minute and the person isn't sure they're interested. Staff will leave with practical language and a clearer plan for talking about their programs in ways that move youth and families from interest to enrollment.

Addressing Tier 1 Behavior
Wednesday August 5, 2026 4:40pm - 6:00pm PDT
Effectively addressing Tier 1 behaviors helps staff maintain strong classroom culture, reduce disruptions, and maximize student engagement. In this practice-based session, staff will use the behavior management plan to learn and rehearse key strategies, including delivering clear verbal warnings and leading 1:1 restorative conversations. The focus will be on the moments that often feel most challenging—responding consistently in the moment, maintaining composure, and navigating student reactions with clarity and respect. Staff will leave with practical language, greater confidence, and a clear approach to addressing Tier 1 behaviors in real time.
